Balinese Cats and kittens
Balinese Breed Profile
The Balinese cat originated in the United States after some Siamese cats were imported with a recessive
long-haired gene. Breeding efforts focusing on this trait then produced the Balinese.
They are a social, playful and quitely vocal cat that likes to take interest in what's going on around them.
- Grooming
- Little grooming required
- Health Problems
- Generally a robust cat with very few health problems. The gene pool they are bred from however is very
small so there is a risk of developing rare genetic issues.
- Similar Breeds
-
Javanese [US]: Identical to the Balinese but includes tabby, tortie
and flame points.
-
Siamese: Originally the Balinese was bred as a long haired Siamese
cat.
